History
John De Lorenzo has been in the business world as an
employee of many Fortune 500 companies (EDS, Dupont IEA,
Delta Resources, Fairchild Camera & Instruments, Blue
Cross/Blue Shield of NY, Bankers Trust, Irving Trust,
Revlon, and The NYC Transit Authority) from 1966 thru
1989, and as an independent systems consultant from 1970
to the present time.
John, as
MIS Deputy Director for the NYC Transit Authority,
discussing the possibilities of Personal Computers with
Bill Stio, his Manager of Networking &
Communications. John credits Bill with his inspiration,
HomeBASE!.
In 1992,
John De Lorenzo and his family spent a year in Manila,
Philippines establishing an off-shore development office.
Paulina, John's wife, joined The De Lorenzo Group and has
assumed responsibility for Finance and Administration.
During that year, HomeBASE was featured on Good
Morning Asia (GMA) -- an asian clone of Good Morning
America. ¾ John De Lorenzo,
CEO, The De Lorenzo Group, as seen via television news Special
Edition on Good Morning Asia (GMA) on January 27,
1993.
Rico
Hizon, GMA, gave us the international press we needed...
"Long ago it was relatively easy to chose a computer
and software. There simply weren't too many models and
variets of programs around. However, over the past
decade, the consumer has had to choose from a bewildering
variety. Almost all of them good to excellent in quality.
Escpecially with computer software, they come in all
types from Lotus, Dbase, Wordstar, etc, In this day and
age, computer firms have simplified matters with one
software package. The De Lorenzo Group simplifies
computer software with HomeBASE, a software package that
integrates and incorporates all the programs that will
cater to all you needs at home and at work....At
work, HomeBASE makes you communicate with all the other
computers in the office or other systems connected not
within the geographical location. ...Many local vendors
produce software that meets a part of a need. Even some
of the international vendors are providing similar or
stereo type software....Their approach towards towards
computerization is geared to helping others learn while
doing. They prepare lectures and lab sessions by
evaluating the skills to be developed and needs to be
fulfilled."
The De Lorenzo Group HomeBASE application suite was
spun out from the early software application package
efforts (originally begun for the DOS platform), and
later ported to Windows.
Microsofts early hit products, Windows 3.1
and 3.11, advanced the state-of-the-art of computer
applications in much the same way that Microsoft DOS
refined computer use. Like Microsoft 3.x, Microsoft
Windows 95 and WindowsNT 4.0 proved to be enormously
popular, selling at an incredible rate.
By 1997, De Lorenzo knew that the HomeBASE product
line required a major infusion of new technology. The DOS
and Windows editions of HomeBASE were the most productive
in the industry, but the world is rapidly moving to the
Internet/Intranet. HomeBASE needed a new direction.
De Lorenzo believed that HomeBASE Windows edition
could be of use on the Internet. Better yet, the
"capability" of an automated port for HomeBASE
was already possible.
Today, the Windows Edition
represents the "Blue Ribbon" of The De Lorenzo
Group Homebase. Later next year, both The De Lorenzo
Group and HomeBASE are moving -- The De Lorenzo Group to
Tuscon, AZ. and HomeBASE to the Internet Edition. Surely,
these will be the new "Blue Ribbon!"
